Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Kabuli Chana (White Chickpeas)
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 teaspoon Basil powder, or oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Chilli flakes
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper powder
    • Turmeric powder (Haldi), a pinch 
  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • Lemon juice, to taste
  • Salt, to taste 

How to make Chickpea soup:-

  • Wash and soak chickpeas for 8 to 10 hours for the recipe for chickpea soup.
  • Pressure Chickpeas should be soft after three to four whistles. Add a pinch of turmeric and a cup of water while cooking. The chickpeas should cool.
  • When the chickpeas are cool enough to handle, add some more water and pulse the mixture until it resembles a silky smooth paste.
  • In a wok, warm a teaspoon of oil. Cook minced onions, ginger, and garlic until the raw smell disappears.
  • Add the pureed chickpeas and more water if needed to achieve the desired consistency.
  • Bring it to a boil after adding salt, basil powder, and red pepper flakes.
  • Add a few drops of lemon juice and freshly ground pepper powder before boiling for a further two minutes. Serve warm.
  • Serve chickpea soup with noodles or garlic bread and enjoy.
