Ingredients

  • 1 can chickpeas, drained
  • 60ml cold water, plus a 30ml for a looser consistency
  • 1 small garlic clove peeled and crushed
  • 1 lemon, juiced then ½ zested
  • 3 tbsp tahini
  • 1 tbsp olive oil, to garnish (optional)
  • mixed cruditĂ©s and toasted pitta bread, to serve (optional)

Instruction:-

STEP 1: In a colander, thoroughly rinse the chickpeas under cold running water. Add to a food processor's large bowl along with 60 ml of water, and blend until nearly smooth. Blitz one more after adding the tahini, lemon, and garlic. Add up to 30ml extra water gradually if the mixture is too thick. Repeat the blending for another 5 minutes, or until the hummus is silky and creamy.

Step 2:- Transfer to a bowl and season with a generous teaspoon of sea salt. With the back of a dessert spoon, swirl the hummus' top before adding a little olive oil. If desired, serve with toasted pita bread and salty crudités.

Changes that can be made to the hummus recipe

While mixing, some herbs, greens, or roasted veggies can be added. Therefore, you can add herbs or greens according to the flavors you choose. Consequently, a basic hummus recipe can be altered to create different flavors.

Examples of herbs are coriander leaves (cilantro), which will produce a hummus that is a lovely green in color, citrusy, and aromatic.

You can make spinach hummus that is healthful and nutrient-dense by adding some blanched spinach.

You can also puree roasted carrots, red bell peppers, or beets when creating hummus.
